Future: The next PTA general meeting is October 21st 6:45-7:45pm in the cafeteria.

Talk to your Board representative, Stephanie Engelsman, to advocate to keep Glencoe open! Stephanie has generously agreed to come to our Oct 21st Glencoe PTA General meeting to answer our questions and hear our stories. She, and the rest of the PPS Board of Education, have the authority to approve or reject the Superintendent’s school-closure/rightsizing proposal. Mark your calendar. Dear Glencoe Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! 

The Glencoe Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a nonprofit organization that brings families together, supports students and staff, and advocates for our school community. PTA meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities are open to everyone at Glencoe.

PTA membership is free. Anyone who attends a PTA meeting automatically becomes a member and receives full voting rights. The PTA covers the $11.50 annual membership dues so that cost is never a barrier to participating. Membership must be renewed each school year.

What We’re Supporting This Year

This spring, the PTA asked teachers and staff which investments would make the greatest difference for students. Based on their input, our 2026–27 fundraising priorities include:

• Classroom supplies and learning resources

• New books and updated collections for the Glencoe library

• A sound system for assemblies and community events

• School improvements that create a welcoming, connected campus

We want families to understand where their contributions go. Each fundraiser will clearly identify what it supports. Current plans include new Glencoe spirit wear to benefit the library and community fundraisers to help purchase a new sound system & school supplies. PTA members will help review and approve the annual budget at our general meetings.

The PTA will also continue supporting programs and traditions such as teacher allowances, Staff Appreciation Week, Oregon Battle of the Books, family events, the Un-Talent Show, Bike Bus, and more.

A New Playground Is Coming!

We’re excited to see the new playground taking shape. While construction is being completed, the PTA has approved up to $1,000 from existing playground funds for “Recess in a Box” equipment selected by Glencoe staff. Watch the school newsletter and PTA communications for construction updates.

Get Involved

Please join us for our first PTA Meeting and Potluck on Wednesday, September 9, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. Come meet other families, learn about plans for the year, and help shape how PTA resources are used.

You can also stay connected by:

• Joining Konstella for school and classroom updates

• Reading the school newsletter

• Volunteering at an event or in the classroom

• Supporting passive fundraisers such as BottleDrop, Fred Meyer Community Rewards, and Box Tops

• Visiting the PTA website and watching the message board near the bike racks

FAQs

What does PTA membership mean?

Glencoe PTA is a local chapter of the National PTA, a nationwide network of families and educators working to support children, schools, and communities.

Membership is free and accessible. You can become a Glencoe PTA member simply by attending a general meeting. There are no membership dues for families to pay. The PTA fundraises to cover those costs so that finances are never a barrier to participation.

Members can take part in discussions, help shape PTA priorities, and vote on decisions brought before the general membership. Attending a meeting does not commit you to volunteering, serving on the Board, or taking on additional responsibilities.

Do I have to join the PTA to get involved?

No! PTA membership is only one way to participate in the Glencoe community. You do not need to be a member or attend meetings to:

• Volunteer your time

• Share a professional, creative, or practical skill

• Help with a specific event or project

• Donate to a fundraiser

• Support a classroom or school need

• Share ideas or feedback

• Connect us with a community partner

Some people participate throughout the year, while others help with one event, make a donation, or offer a particular skill when it is needed. Every contribution matters.
