It's time to register for kindergarten for the 2025-2026 school year!
As parents, we know what a big moment this is in the life of a family, and as you and your child prepare for this important transition, we want to share a bit about what we think makes Glencoe great.
"We love the sense of community and welcome we have felt from our fellow parents. And we love each teacher we have had who has so obviously cared for our kids and been dedicated to their learning experience."

Glencoe teachers love Glencoe. Glencoe's average teacher duration is 15 years, with the most senior teachers having spent 33 years at Glencoe.
Teachers are highly trained. Glencoe has an experienced staff, with an average of 17 years of teaching experience, plus higher than average graduate degrees relative to other PPS schools.
“We have two children currently attending Glencoe and our family has had the best experience at Glencoe. We love the way the school administration, teachers, and community all set an example every day in living up to its values."

In addition to Glencoe's exceptional classroom teachers, students benefit from enrichment teachers (music, PE, and library) and support staff.
Teachers do an excellent job of supporting academic growth and students at Glencoe score far above the state average.
"My third grader loves reading, he just gets lost in books. I attribute this to the amazing instruction and support he has received from his teachers and the librarians, and to the seemingly endless supply of books that catch his interest."

Glencoe's counseling team offers tremendous resources and support, collaborates with parents, and clearly cares for all of their students.
All students receive daily social-emotional learning lessons that focus on mindfulness, coping strategies, self-care and wellness, and community-building.
Glencoe has an active Gender Sexuality Alliance and Black Student Union.
Glencoe's student supports include a reading specialist, English Language Development teacher, speech & language pathologists, Learning Center teachers, paraeducators, and school psychologist.
"Ms. Gardner (counselor) has helped my son navigate some challenging moments, and she's been an amazing support to us parents as well."

There are many opportunities for family involvement, including Art Infusion, school gardening projects, Site Council, Oregon Battle of the Books, helping in the cafeteria or library, and participating in school and PTA events.
Glencoe has a family-run Art Infusion program in which community members facilitate art lessons for all students.
"There are lots of choices of fun things we can do."
-Glencoe kindergartener
The PTA and school staff host fun events throughout the year including spirit days, movie nights, family art nights, Harvest Fest, restaurant partnerships and more.
Glencoe students attend exciting field trips, ranging from exploring Bonneville Dam to attending music programs at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall.
“Glencoe’s got a good playground and a kind community. The teachers are nice.”
-Glencoe 2nd grader
In the fall of 2023, Glencoe saw the first of two rounds of playground improvements.
These improvements will add more play equipment, increase inclusivity, add an aesthetic refresh, increase shade, and add more plants and nature-based elements.
Community volunteers continue to lend their skills and expertise to this project.
