Art Infusion is Glencoe’s classroom art program taught and run by volunteers. The program augments and complements our half-time art instruction program. Volunteers are trained to teach each lesson before they head into the classroom, and no art experience is necessary!
Throughout the year, students will work in a variety of styles and media including colored pencil, tempera paint, acrylic paint, watercolor, stamp pads, clay, chalk pastels, and more. In addition to visual arts, the program incorporates math, science, social studies into the lessons.
The program culminates each year in an art show, where students have a chance to curate and display their favorite works.
Note that Art Infusion is not a PTA program, so please contact glencoe.art.infusion@gmail.com with any Art Infusion-specific questions!
Volunteering is a great way to help and visit your child's classroom! No art experience is necessary, but there are a few requirements to be a volunteer:
All volunteers must go through PPS's volunteer process, which involves a short online training and a background check. Your volunteer status must be renewed every three years.
Volunteers need to attend the volunteer training OR be trained in the lesson by a volunteer who did attend in order to help in the classroom.
Volunteers need to meet in the Art Infusion room 15 minutes prior to the scheduled classroom time.
For more details, volunteers should read the general Glencoe Volunteer Agreements as well as Art Infusion-specific volunteer expectations.
Volunteer trainings for Art Infusion are held throughout the year, and are held at Glencoe. During each training, you'll learn about a particular lesson, so that you can teach it in your child's classroom. Free childcare is available on training nights. Details about each training are in the schedule.
Lesson 1: Tue, 9/10
Lesson 2: Tue, 10/8
Lesson 3: Tue, 11/12
Lesson 4: Tue, 1/14
Lesson 5: Tue, 2/11
Lesson 6: Tue, 3/11
All trainings start at 6:30pm in the Glencoe cafeteria.
During the 2023/24 school year, we will be using a Google calendar for scheduling Art Infusion lessons. One representative from each class will be in charge of coordinating with the teacher and entering lesson times into the Google calendar above. If you are the representative for your child's classroom, email glencoe.art.infusion@gmail.com for write access to the calendar. Each teacher's preferred time windows and room preferences are outlined in this spreadsheet.
See the How To document for more details on lesson scheduling, or check out a demo screencast of the process.

The calendar below shows all scheduled Art Infusion lessons, as well as trainings and art classes. If you're in charge of lesson scheduling, see the section above for details on how to schedule a lesson time.
