Our Goal

The Glencoe PTA aligns with other PPS communities in demanding a methodical, transparent approach to district rightsizing and calls on PPS to preserve Glencoe as a neighborhood elementary school.

Why?

Glencoe is a successful but underutilized educational asset. 

Before closing it, PPS must model whether expanding its boundary or using it as a receiving school could improve enrollment sustainability while preserving academic quality and displacing fewer students.

What We’re Asking:
PPS must publicly evaluate boundary expansion and use of Glencoe as a receiving school and demonstrate that closure would produce greater benefits for students than those less disruptive alternatives.

• Add an Academic Equity and Educational Continuity indicator for every school, regardless of Title I status. It should measure focal-student growth and outcomes and compare the educational quality of sending and receiving schools.

• Publish a Glencoe-as-receiving-school scenario alongside any Glencoe-closure scenario.

• Use a phased process with measurable enrollment and academic benchmarks before permanently eliminating a healthy school community.

Equity should measure not only how many focal students a scenario moves, but also how well those students are doing before the move and whether their proposed receiving school can sustain or improve their outcomes.
